About Us

Búlabuzz was founded in July, 2017 when two of Ireland’s leading Bodhrán teachers and performers Robbie Walsh and Colm Phelan joined forces to create a special school which caters for players of all ages and standards. Their aim was to pass on their knowledge and experience of the instrument to Bodhrán enthusiasts around the world.

The Bodhrán Summer school is arranged around a series of classes given by Robbie, Colm and a host of other world class Bodhrán players and teachers.

It also includes special workshops relating to the instrument itself, nightly music sessions with local musicians and concerts featuring top class Bodhrán players.

In July 2020, Búla Buzz ‘moooved’ their summer school online for the first time ever due to Covid 19. After the successful fundraiser for Focus Ireland at our previous summer school, we decided to host another Bodhrán raffle with Rob Forkner of Metloef Drums. This raffle raised a massive €4,700 for the Irish Hospice foundation.

In the space of 12 months, through the various charity events organised by Búla Buzz and thanks to the support of the Bodhrán community, friends and family, we are very proud to have raised €14,364 for various charities such as Pieta House, Irish Cancer Society, Womens Aid & Men’s Aid.

In 2021, Búla Buzz in aid of ALONE, raffled off another one of Rob Forkners bodhrán’s which raised a total of €3,400.

This has brought the total raised through the school for various charities to €17,764.

Thank you for supporting our work, we couldn’t do it without you.
